Maneki Neko Series
The Maneki Neko, or Beckoning Cat, is a symbol of good luck and can bring about miracles into the lives of those that place their belief in it. Its origin can be traced back to 17th century Japan, somewhere near Tokyo (called Edo at the time). It is said that during a thunderstorm, a man took shelter under a Tree outside the Gotoku-ji Temple. Hiding under the cover of this Tree, he looked upon the temple gate to see a cat that was beckoning to him with its paw, as if inviting him into the Temple. He ran through the rain and took shelter under the temple roof, when moments later the Tree was struck by lightning. The mans life was spared, just moments away from being struck by lighting thanks to a Cat that was beckoning him in at the Temple Gate.
Thus, the legend of Lucky Cat was created, and a symbol of good luck was shared with the world.
